1947 Washington Quarter, MS68
Rainbow-Toned Registry Set Rarity
1947 25C MS68 PCGS. Plentiful in lower grades, the 1947 Washington quarter becomes a great condition rarity at the MS68 level, where a total of just seven pieces are reported: five at PCGS, two at NGC (11/24). The current example boasts sharp definition and vibrant, frosty mint luster, but the chief visual attributed lies in the trough of vivid rainbow toning along the lower obverse margin. The remainder of the coin is champagne-brilliant. One microscopic pin prick in the left obverse field appears to be the only thing preventing perfection, and even it is invisible to the naked eye.
